Here's my absolute favourite company - GVO - hosting with a difference!

Last week saw the end of Alex Jeffreys “official” coaching course although when I listened to the recorded program it appears he will be providing even more value sometime in the future.

So what has been the outcome? Did I learn anything new and have I benefitted from the marathon sessions?

I suppose if I am honest I didn’t actually learn anything I hadn’t heard before, BUT the difference is the way the information was presented and the continual encouragement to take action.   Also, of course, what made this experience “unique” was the involvement of the students.

The very first session was probably the most important although at the time I didn’t fully appreciate it and only half listened.  It concerns planning for there is a saying – Those Who Fail To Plan, Plan To Fail.

The remaining coaching dealt with various methods of attraction marketing and how to build a responsive list. People buy from those they know, like and trust, and therefore social networking in its various forms has become a huge way to build a list. but it’s not for everyone.

There are those who “get it” easily and those who struggle, and I suspect it will be the younger generation who will progress the fastest.  Nothing against the older students but many of the youngsters already organise their social lives via MySpace, Facebook and the like, so adapting profiles for business should not be too difficult.

That said, it is not a race and everyone will go at his or her own pace.  I was reminded of that today when I walked round a golf course.  I was scoring for three players and it was good to get in the fresh air and take a bit of exercise.

Like Alex Jeffreys students, all three golfers started together and obviously finished the course together, but one took the direct route, the other veered off course a bit and the third certainly took the scenic route.

Did it matter?

Not at all because they all enjoyed it and all finished. No-one quit or got discouraged, and I hope that holds true for all those on Alex Jeffreys course.

It is crunch time now though and everyone may have a taste of what they like and don’t like, know what they are good at and what they struggle with, also whether that oh so important plan they originally made (or didn’t) still holds true.

Mine doesn’t but that’s okay.  I didn’t plan to fail but didn’t expect to get it right first time either.

For health reasons I’ve got to change the way I’ve been working because the computer now made me feel really strange.  However, where there’s a will there’s a way so I guess I’ll just take a long hard look at what’s worked and what hasn’t and as Alex is fond of saying, “Fail Forward”!

Hope everyone else does the same and I wish them Good Luck.  Alex is certainly an inspiration.  He “gets it” and is able to communicate in a no fluff, no nonsense way, what has worked for him and what can be achieved in the internet marketing arena.

He is fond of quoting the saying -  Quitters Never Win and Winners Never Quit , but the reality is, any business needs three key ingredients to develop into anything truly worth having – hard work. enthusiasm and time!

Just wish I was twenty years younger!
