I don’t do “posh” and since my autistic son was born, twenty two years ago I haven’t done heels either.
I’m much more comfortable in jeans and flip-flops, but my eldest son is getting married on 25th June so I’ve got to make an effort.
Finally, I’ve bought an outfit and this week sees me tottering around in heels in the hope I won’t break my ankle on his big day. I’m supposed to be doing a reading and don’t want to do something stupid as I walk up to the front of the church.
Anyway, one of the reasons my outfit has been a last minute decision, apart from the fact I hate shopping, is because I wanted to lose a bit of weight, or at least tone up, especially around the arms. You know how it is - women of a certain age do tend to go a bit flabby in certain areas unless they work out and until recently, I didn’t.
Execise has never really been top of my list of priorities, even though I was advised to do some resistance training because of thinning bones. It was just too time consuming and difficult to fit into my busy schedule.
However, I’ve been a beta tester for the 7MinuteWorkout for a few weeks now and surprise, surprise, I actually enjoy the exercises…
…especially when they’re over!
No seriously, they’re okay and I never dread having to do them. I’ve even started them as late as 10.30 p.m. in the evening, because the really nice thing about them is they only take 7 minutes to do, and that’s only every other day.
You just work on five different muscle groups over a ten day period so your whole body gets a workout. The logic behind it is this -
Exercise creates the stimulus for improvement and rest provides the actual benefit.
I know it sounds a bit weird and too good to be true, but trust me, it works.
I’m stronger, fitter, more toned and I’ve lost inches since starting it, although my scales don’t say I’ve lost much weight. However, they don’t reveal the whole picture because muscle is heavier than fat.
The 7MinuteWorkout is actually a full nutrition and exercise program designed to help properly educate people on how to achieve permanent weight loss regardless of genetics, age, muscle size, strength and previous experience, and I have to tell you there are some beta testers in the program MUCH older than me who really put me to shame.
Their results are phenomenal, and I don’t just mean they’ve lost weight, but there’s been a marked increase in their strength and flexibility too, and let’s face it as we age, they’re two things we really need to keep an eye on.
Anyway, I know you’re sceptical. I was too before I signed up for the program, but not any more.

The 7MinuteWorkout actually being launched to the general public today so if you want to check it out for yourself – go here
I have to admit I think the first video is a bit hypey, but there are three in the promotional series and the second and third are really good so you might just want to watch them all.
Meanwhile, I’m off to do some more “tottering”. You never know, I may start wearing heels more often because there’s no doubt about it, they do make you stand differently and look instantly taller and slimmer, even without doing the 7Minute Workout.
(I don’t recommended them for men though – just stick to the exercises!)
By the way – here’s a poem I’ve written about it.
