Here's my absolute favourite company - GVO - hosting with a difference!
Well, here I go again – spreading some more information to improve your knowledge, and butter you up.
This comes from an e-mail I received and you can find an example of the original version here http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/b/butter-margarine.htm
Parts of this are true, according to the website Truth or Fiction but knowing all the chemicals used in skincare products and the deceptive marketing used to make you think you’re getting something natural, I thought I’d pass it on in full .
Also, I thought it would serve as an example to you of NOT believing everything you’re told!
You only have to look at the brilliant video on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYyDXH1amic about the bionic burger to see how nutritious most of our food is, and we all know much of what you actually eat is just a load of chemicals mixed together to create a nice flavour.
This isn’t about burgers, but it’s interesting, especially for all those of you who decided to go on a diet for the New Year and promised to swap your butter for margarine.
Anyway, here’s the information I was asked to pass on -
Did you know margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys?
Well, apparently it actually killed the birds, so the people who’d put their money into the research decided in order to recoup their investment they’d need to come up with another use.
At the time, it was just a white substance with no food appeal so they added some yellow colouring, called it margarine and sold it to people as an alternative to butter.
It’s become very popular, BUT…
do you know the real difference between margarine and butter?
Well, this is interesting.
Butter has been around for centuries, whereas margarine has been around for less than 100 years. Butter tastes much better than margarine and can enhance the flavour of other foods.
Both have the same amount of calories, but butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to 5 grams for margarine.
Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because they’re added.
Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods, but according to a recent Harvard Medical Study, eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter.
Margarine is very high in trans fatty acids.
Apparently it -
Triples the risk of coronary heart disease.
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers by up to five times.
Lowers the quality of breast milk.
Decreases immune response.
Decreases insulin response.
Now here’s the most disturbing part, but which is really interesting -
Margarine is only ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC!
It shares 27 ingredients with PAINT
Does that put you off just a bit?
It does me.
However, it seems there’s a simple test you can do if you’re skeptical.
Try leaving a tub of margarine open in your garage or shaded area for a couple of days and you should notice a couple of things:
Firstly, there’ll be no flies around it, not even those pesky fruit flies, and secondly, it doesn’t rot , or smell differently.
As it has no nutritional value, nothing will grow on margarine, not even tiny microorganisms.
Why?
Because margarine is nearly plastic – Apparently!
Okay, so now you know, are you going back to butter, or will you continue to spread “nearly plastic” on your toast?
Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.
Pass the BUTTER PLEASE
Take care,
