Here's my absolute favourite company - GVO - hosting with a difference!
Today Alex will reveal the result of his video competition, and although I have no chance of winning, I am very proud of the fact I actually took action and made a video. I called it Caution – Alex Jeffreys Coaching Program Comes With A Health Warning
The rules were that we had to introduce ourselves, our website, Alex Jeffreys (with the correct spelling) and his www.Marketingwithyou.com coaching program. I managed to include them all and my video is now on YouTube.
It was pretty tongue in cheek applying a bit of reverse psychology.
However, the reality is, I wasn’t joking.
I have been trying to have a web presence since my 50th birthday and have bought loads of e-books, etc, just as everyone does. I’ve also spent a lot of money AND a lot of time sitting at the computer. I have to admit most of my time has been wasted because although I was busy, without direction and focus I was not really productive.
Whilst I have enjoyed learning new things and chatting to different people in various parts of the globe, it hasn’t been good for my health, and if you do the same as I did, it won’t be good for yours either. That is, unless you take some exercise.
On Saturday I went for a health check. It was available for people over a certain age but you had to pay for it. I was surprised how many people turned up, both male and female.
I was tested for heart disease and stroke risk, which are two of the biggest causes of disability and premature death, especially as there are usually no obvious symptoms. I was also assessed for the likelihood of developing osteoporosis.
Thankfully, I do not appear to be a high risk for heart disease or a stroke, BUT unless I take care to maintain my bone density, I could be in for a lot of problems.
Your bone mass will reach its peak by the age of about thirty and after that, unless you do something to actively maintain it, the bone density will decline. It’s particularly bad for women, especially if they’ve been through the menopause because of the change in hormones. Those pesky things have a lot to answer for!
Other things which affect bone density are also smoking, alcohol, coffee, fizzy drinks, AND lack of exercise i.e. sitting at a computer, watching tv, riding round in cars.
Apparently, four hours per day on your feet is the minimum necessary to keep bones healthy. When we are upright our skeleton is acting against the force of gravity so it stimulates the bones to remain strong.
So, although Alex coaching course is brilliant, and he does inspire you to take action, please remember, the action should not always be on the computer! You need to keep fit and take some exercise.
Stay strong!

Jacqueline’s last blog post..Getting started in Blogging…so far so good!
Thanks for the concern. I’m not stressed but am having to cut down on the computer drastically – doctors orders!
It was a pleasure visiting your blog, but there’s so little time I know.
Good luck to you too. I know we’ll all get there – just for some of us it will take a bit longer.
You’re doing just fine though – keep going.
Jean
Thanks for the article, I am also worried about my bones health, I also spend too many hours in front of the computer and didn’t know that a minimum of 4 hours was required for our bones to remain healthy. Thanks!
I know Katty,
We do tend to just take things for granted don’t we? Bones, eyesight – both things you have to factor in when you spend a lot of time on a computer.
Take a break in the sunshine and fresh air if you can.
Best wishes
Jean
[...] I came across Alex because of a typo I made and life hasn’t been the same since, I have to admit. He’s inspired me to take more action in the last six months than in all the previous time on the internet. [...]
